Thanks for the advice! I dont think its to the point of scrounging subs though. But new Russian 6BM8s are still available The real danger here is I just perused a quad of early NOS Phillips there.
One of my favorite old guitar amps has an obscure set but over time Ive scrounged Four full NOS sets.

Substituting 6BM8s for 6GW8s has been done, in some jukebox and organ amp retro-fits. There is no sub listed for the 6GW8. Do you already have an account? Some will claim that you lose just a datasheft of power, but probably not anything significant I see that the 6BM8 is a very similar tube with different pinout.

If they’re used they’re very low hours. Looks like the only sub for the 6BM8, is the 6HC8. I thought that was a decent price for NOS Telefunkens. I haven’t tested them yet and probably won’t until I need them. Log in or Dataasheet up. I can sure relate to the feeling of hard to find tubes though.
Well sure I guess because alot of european radios used them there may be a following. Once you go Telefunken, Valvo, or Mullard you’ll never go back. Change the value to put the 6BM8 into about the same idle current as the 6GW8 originally would have Hi all, I have a vintage pioneer receiver that uses 6GW8 output tubes, which are no longer manufactured.
My Telefunken Princess Radio uses 2 of these for output. Would it be possible to use them as a 6GW8 substitute without doing any modifications besides changing socket pinout?

It’s just annoying to know that there’s a finite supply of a given tube out there. This could really help some us with amps that use these tubes if it would work.
